Intrusion prevention systems (IPSs) protect your network from malware and
unauthorized access. But is your
IPS hurting your network´s reliability? IPSs are
installed in-line in the network to intercept suspect traffic, but what happens
if the
IPS loses power or gets overwhelmed by too much traffic?
The network goes down or slows down, negatively impacting employee productivity
and business profitability.
An iBypass Switch from Net Optics protects your network against power losses
and
IPS slowdowns. It installs in-line in your network so the
IPS doesn´t have to,
and it makes sure your traffic keeps flowing even when the
IPS doesn´t.
Bypass Your Troubled IPS
The iBypass Switch creates a fail-safe in-line port for your IPS. When the
IPS failures,
the iBypass Switch also enables you to take down the
IPS for maintenance or to redeploy
it without incurring any network downtime.
Simply unplug the IPS, and the iBypass Switch automatically keeps the traffic flowing.
You can even test new
IPS signature sets by putting the
IPS in passive (intrusion
detection or
IDS) mode, because the iBypass Switch acts like Tap and copies the traffic
to the
IPS when the
IPS is out of the circuit.
More Network Uptime
Besides protecting your network from power and
IPS failures, the iBypass Switch also enables you
to take down the
IPS for maintenance or to redeploy it without incurring any network downtime.
Simply unplug the IPS, and the iBypass Switch automatically keeps the traffic flowing. You can
even test new
IPS signature sets by putting the

Greater Network Visibility

Unlike other bypass switches in the market, the Net Optics iBypass Switch also
monitors the link traffic and provides
RMON statistics such as bandwidth utilization,
peak utilization, and error counts. This information can be viewed on the device's
front panel LCD display, or accessed remotely using friendly graphical device
management software that comes with every unit.
Flexible Connectivity
The iBypass Switch family includes models for 10/100/1000 cover media and 1 Gigabit and 10
Gigabit fiber. Modular
SFP monitor ports on some models provide media conversion capability,
enabling copper interface IPSs, for example, to be used on fiber links.
Indigo™ Software Management
Net Optics Web Manager and System Manager offer two levels of remote management capability
depending on your IT needs. These new software tools provide for easy to read security and
performance information from either a single device or all of the iTap enabled devices in your network.
