Director™ and Load Balancing
With Load Balancing, the traffic is split into multiple streams so the data can be
processed by two or more tools working in parallel. Director Load Balancing takes the
traffic from any Network Port or aggregated set of Network Ports and distributes it
to two to ten Monitor Ports. The load can be balanced by IP address, port, protocol,
VLAN, and MAC address, or any other packet header field. Flows are kept intact,
ensuring that each tool receives complete "conversations" for analysis.
Load Balancing can be used in conjunction with filtering, aggregation, and other
Director functions, and multiple Load Balancers can be implemented in a single
chassis. For all of your load balancing needs, look no further than the Director
data monitoring switch.
Other notable features of Director™ include:
- One-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-many port mappings
- Dual hot-swappable power supplies, AC or -48VDC
- 12 integrated, fully passive 1 GBE in-line Taps
- DNM cards can be removed from the chassis without taking down attached in-line links
- Easy-to-use Web management interface
The
standard Director (DIR-3400,DIR 5400,DIR-7400) features static load balancing.
Interested in dynamic load balancing?
Director Pro (DIR-3400P + DIR-6400P) supports flow/session based
